Birthday Boy

One year ago today, my house was the cleanest it's ever been. :) I was up until about 1am, fulfilling the last of my nesting instincts before we had to leave for the hospital just a few hours later, on September 4, 2009. It was such a surreal time, knowing that that day was the day we would meet our baby boy for the first time and our lives would be forever changed!

Wyatt Alan Keeler, you are one of two most precious gifts that God has given us. You have filled a place in our hearts that we didn't know existed, only for you. It's difficult to put into words what your presence in our lives has meant to us and how amazing it is to see you transform from a tiny lil' baby to a walking and babbling lil' boy. Seeing your face for the first time, hours of putting you to sleep next to the sound of a running vacuum cleaner...wondering if those first few months of fussiness would ever end (and they did!!), :) your precious smiles and contagious giggles, your arms wrapped around our neck while you lay your head on our shoulder, your eyes full of kindness, your open mouth kisses, the way you know how to make us laugh, the way you get excited when your big sister comes into the room, the way you sneak over to Bailey's water bowl and start laughing when we catch you, your bouncy dance moves, your discovery of the world around you, the way you dive into the floor in a fit of giggles when we chase you, the way you so contently play with your toys....vrooming your cars and trucks and chasing your balls all around....and the fact that your favorite place to be (and our favorite place to have you) is in our arms. All that you are fills us with a new found joy and purpose in life. We are so undeserving yet so grateful for God's incredible goodness in entrusting us with you, His child.

First steps!!!

Happy 1st birthday, sweet boy!! We love you more than words can say!

Tulip Time

Last week we ventured out for the infamous Tulip Time Festival here in Holland. To be honest, though I have strong Dutch roots, I don't get into all that much. However, now that we have kids, especially one lil' girl who was completely enamored with tulips and Dutch dancers, the festival was more enjoyable this year. We really only made it downtown a couple of times, one to bring the kids to the Kinderplaats event which is a like a little fair just for them and the other a mid-day stroll with just me and the kids. My favorite part of the week was seeing Teagan's beaming face as she ran around in the beautiful Dutch girl costume that my step mother-in-law, Dottie, made for her. She loved wearing it (almost every day) around the house and at Kinderplaats. It was SO adorable and Dottie did such a wonderful job! I even dressed up in Dottie's old Dutch costumes to take some pictures with my lil' Dutch girl (pictures possibly to come later as they were taken on someone else's camera).

Our lil' Dutch girl (opting for her cowgirl boots instead of wooden shoes)! :)

Our adorable lil' Dutch boy (he'll probably get an "official" costume next year).

My three favorite people! :)

Me and my lil' lovies!

Besides the petting zoo and craft stuff, this jumping pen type thing was the only blow-up activity at Kinderplaats that Teagan had interest in. Unfortunately, her enthusiasm didn't last past the entry way door. She stayed attached to this wall the entire time until I finally went to go rescue her. Maybe next year. :)

Learning how to do a little bit of Dutch dancing. Teagan practiced her moves at home all week. :)

Trying on wooden shoes....a little big yet!

Making a bracelet with Daddy.

Thank you, Grandma, for making me feel so special! xoxo Teagie
